This mommy reads

A year ago I had the lofty goal of reading 60 books in 1 year... I don't remember what number I made it up to but it deffinately wasn't 60.

This year I gave myself the goal of 15 books and up until a couple weeks ago I only finished 1 or 2. Reading as a new mom? Let's face it it's not easy...

However I recently purchased a Nook and let me just say, I love this thing! I will post more on it later, but for now lets just say I am half way toward my goal!

1) The Battle of the Labyrinth - Rick Riordan
2) Dead and Gone - Charlaine Harris
3) Dead in the Family - Charlaine Harris
4) The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
5) Many Bloody Returns - Various
6) Evermore - Alyson Noel
7) Around the World in 80 Days - Jules Verne

Currently Reading Frankenstein - Mary Shelley (Taking advantage of the free books you can get with the Nook!)

Friday Firsts - Camping!

Both Matt and I went camping as kids and loved it. We both agreed that we wanted to be able to give Cassie that experience if at all possible. So on 4th of July weekend we went on over to the RV place on a whim and took a look at a few different campers. We knew we wanted to start out small and work our way up the RV chain, so we knew we wanted a nice little popup but dutifully let the sales guy show us all the nice popup models with the slide outs and the trailers with the popout ends but still bought the nice little one with the 10 foot box.

We picked it up later that week and had our first trip out (in our backyard) that weekend. Last weekend we took our first *real* camping trip. We are hooked, I can see us being camping weekend warriors discovering our little neck of the world one campground at a time.

Cassie doesn't quite know what to make of this whole camping thing yet, she did excellent here in the yard, but was a bit fussier when we got to the real campground though I don't think it was the camping that made our little fussbudget fussy I still think its partially those darling little pearly whites that have been coming in for the last four months. So I think once we start going out more and we get her into the swing of things she will start to love it as much as we do!

And without further ado...pictures as always...

Our Staycation

Pack n Play fits very nicely inside the camper....

Stove, fridge, furnace and sink, who could ask for more? (oh yeah the mattresses are heated too for those chilly fall camping nights)

Sirius is making him self right at home

Outside stove as well!

Our first real camping trip at Moreau State Park...didn't realize there was no electric, but we made due (i.e. Matt went and bought a battery so we could have the fan on for white noise for Cassie :) ) we will absolutely go here again next year, it was quiet, the price was right and it had a great little lake where you can swim or kayak and a beach for Cassie to play on!

Cassie is just mesmerized by the camp fire

What's camping with out a little s'mores??

Wait, did I say little? I meant ginormous

Last day, hope she had a good time!

Friday Firsts - Vacation!

I love experiencing the world through Cassie's eyes... everything is new to her and I love just watching her soak everything in for the first time. Matt and I have been trying to capture all her firsts on (Digital) film...some things we miss, but I think we have been pretty diligent in getting the important things :) so each Friday I figure I will document some of the more fun and important firsts, some will be recent, some will take some catching up but all of them should be pretty darned adorable (if I do say so myself...of course I may be just *slightly* biased lol)

Last month we took our first Vacation with Cassie... We went to Cape Cod and there were a ton of firsts for her and I think she took it wonderfully especially for an almost 6 month old...

Her first time in a hotel... She slept amazingly well, I was so proud of her!

Her first time sitting up in a high chair out at a restaurant

Her first time in a pool...she wasn't so sure about the cool water, but she didn't scream or cry or even whimper so she didn't hate it, that's a plus!

Her first time with her toes in the sand...She loved it that night when it was nice and cool, next day she wasn't as much of a fan though...

Her first time in the ocean...Not to thrilled with it lapping up against her at night, the next day she tolerated it with mommy for a while...then it was daddy to the rescue.

and finally her first time at a wine tasting...I think the picture explains itself...

Catching Up...

For the 1st 6 months of Cassie's life I have been mixing home and business on my other blog and figured it was time to make the split and focus on each in their own respective places. Hopefully I wont leave my other blog to fester but I have a feeling there will be a lot of posting going on over here as I (try my hardest to) keep a log of our family's everyday events and watch as we grow and learn and live and love together!

and with that here is a bit of history to catch everyone up...

Miss Cassie was evicted just about a month early on January 8, 2010 she was a whopping 6 pounds, 15 ounces and 19.25 inches long

since that chilly snowy day our life has been crazy wonderful, watching this little baby grow and learn and soak in the world around her.
